Lord Of The Rings Amazon TV Show: Everything We Know So Far

Tolkien created one of the most incredible fantasy stories of all time. The Lord Of The Rings books became a hit due to Tolkien’s impressive writing skills and creativity. Middle Earth is vastly inhabited by orcs, hobbits, elves and many more fascinating creatures. And now we’re getting another chapter to this amazing universe. Amazon got the rights to produce a LOTR series and let fans craving for any possible news about the project. So here’s everything that we know so far about the Lord Of The Rings Amazon TV Show.

“Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,

Nine for mortal men doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne;

In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,

One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them;

In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.”

You Have the Power Here

Amazon took a chance and won. The multinational technology company acquired the rights of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings for about $250 million. This acquisition is very significant because it will help to boost their Prime Video Product. This could also be a chance for them to make a big show to fill the gap Game Of Thrones left. And because of this, they’re already planning at least 5 seasons. It’s safe to say that the expectations are high on this one. Another reason to this is that rumors say the series has a budget of $1 billion. That’s the highest amount a TV show has ever received in all of history.

Casting

So far there are still no actors. But there are a lot of rumors. Unfortunately, many of fan favorites previous cast members are not going to join the project. This is due to the fact that the show will occur during the Second Age. That is about 3 thousand years before Frodo leaves the Shire with his friends. However, the veteran Ian McKellen showed interested in reliving his role of Gandalf one more time. And he also said that if Amazon calls he will be there.

Middle Earth

It appears that producers still want New Zealand to serve as setting for Middle Earth. It’s confirmed that the show runners are in talks with the local government and they might start preparations soon. As for the lands of Middle Earth itself, Amazon released a teaser interactive map on their social media this February. Check it out by clicking HERE.

Plot

As mentioned earlier, the show will pass 3441 years before the happenings in The Fellowship of The Ring. And for this reason we might be seeing new beings and creatures that didn’t get the chance to be in the spotlight. Another novelty is the presence of Sauron. And not that eyed shape form, but an actual physical form is being considered. This is because many of the plot of The Age of Númenor is centered on Sauron’s rise to power. Aside from that, Amazon might actually plan on focusing in the forging of the rings and it’s consequences. And of course it left the role fandom crazy for more information.

Speculation has it that the Lord Of The Rings Amazon TV Show will debut in 2021. And we all can’t wait to see what a $1 billion Middle Earth looks like.
